Creativity and the Arts at Camp

The visual and performing arts are a major facet of life at our summer camp in NH. Each day of the summer our campers have the opportunity to build, paint, draw, photograph, film, and practice, which helps them develop their vital 21st century skills like creativity, resilience, collaboration, critical thinking and flexibility/adaptability. At Camps Kenwood and Evergreen in NH we have individual art studios for each of the following disciplines:

Our Incredible Summer Camp Facilities

While we believe that it’s the people who define a camp, we think our outstanding facilities go a long way in making Camps Kenwood and Evergreen the extraordinary place that it is. We have 210 acres of forest and fields, overlooking a half-mile stretch of private lake and beaches in New Hampshire.

Teaching Children Life Skills

At our summer camp in NH our focus is on creating the most developmentally impactful and fun experience possible for our campers. Each summer they gain skills traditionally acquired at overnight camp, like becoming a better swimmer or ball player, or learning new forms of visual arts. More importantly, at Kenwood and Evergreen we are also teaching children life skills like independence, resilience, and flexibility, along with how and when to compromise. These are vital skills that they will need throughout their lives, regardless of what they study in college or choose as their profession.

How Do I Help My Child Learn To Be A Leader

How do I help my child learn to be a leader?

It's a question that many parents ask themselves, and something our summer camp team spends a great deal of time studying. Recently, we were at an educational conference and heard expert Tim Elmore speaking about this subject. If you are not familiar with Elmore, he's an authority on helping young people grow into future leaders. I found his message really compelling, particularly because, as he said "every kid can be a leader, because leadership is about influence.” His mission is to help every young person develop the tools and inner directive to create positive change in their world. Over 30 years Tim Elmore has published over 25 books (including a number of best sellers) on young people and leadership. He's also founder and president of Growing Leaders, a nonprofit that conducts research to determine the best parenting and educational practices for fostering qualities like independence, resilience and collaboration in young people.
