A Video Wrap Up of Week #5 of the Summer of 2017

Posted by Jason Sebell on Jul 31, 2017 11:31:00 PM

Friday was a really busy day here at Camp, what with the start of our annual Homecoming Weekend and the Drive-In Movie. I also really wanted to write about how meaningful the Kenwood Hut 6 trip to Montreal had been for all involved. What I neglected to do was post the Week #5 Wrap Up video.

Because I was away much of the week on the trip I asked Holly, our terrific film making counselor, to shoot and edit this week's montage. I love what she created and hope you do, too!

For a lot of our campers and counselors the 6th weekend of the summer is best weekend of the entire year. It started Friday night with the arrival of last summer's graduates and our drive-in movie. On Saturday it included our annual music festival Hollowpallooza, and was capped off on Sunday with our Carnival celebration. It's a couple of days of non-stop fun and excitement with camp friends.

As a summer camp community we have many beloved traditions and rituals. Few are more adored than our annual music festival called Hollowpallooza. For the last 5 weeks campers and counselors have been forming bands and practicing every free minute for this special event. Tonight all of their hard work paid off in a 4-hour rock concert that none of us will ever forget.

Canada Conversations with Our Graduating Campers

Posted by Jason Sebell on Jul 28, 2017 8:56:15 PM

Our campers went on many trips this week, and my wife Deena and I were thrilled to lead one of them. For two nights and three days we took our oldest Kenwood campers on a trip to Canada to experience the sights and culture of Montreal. This is a trip we both went on as campers, and it means a great deal to us that we get to lead it this many years later.

Last night, we did our typical Friday night rituals and traditions. We had our Friday night service, then the whole camp gathered in the tent to watch the weekly wrap up video and two movies made by campers in our film department. Making a Rainy Day at Summer Camp Into Something Incredible

Posted by Jason Sebell on Jul 14, 2017 12:17:00 AM

When I'm giving tours during the summer one of the most common questions that I get asked is so what do you do at camp when it rains? At a lot of other camps they watch movies or sit in their bunks and wait for the clouds to pass. Not at K&E. This is one of those questions we LOVE to answer because we do amazing things, and whenever possible, we play outside in the rain!

For a very long time we have been proud to be the summer home for boys and girls allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, mustard, dairy, eggs, citrus, mustard, and more! Click on the image below to see what they said. And thanks to Spokin for recognizing our efforts to keep our friends with food allergies safe!
