In the last couple of blogs I've written about so many of the great aspects of our recent Camp Alumni Reunion. Like seeing former campers and counselors of the last 7 decades reconnect with one another, or meeting and becoming fast friends. Or meeting our future K&E campers. Or the special events we held, like Jell-O Wrestling (for kids) and Rope Burning (for adults). Or how much fun it is regardless of your age to stand around a campfire and make s'mores. And, of course, the many ways that we celebrated Phyllis' 66 amazing summers at K&E.
As I mentioned in yesterday's blog, one of the ways we are commemorating her time at Camp is by dedicating a new area near Juniper Lodge and naming it "Phyllis' Path". Going forward, the path will be lined with bricks that members of our Camp community can purchase and personalize. The proceeds of each brick will go to Mickey's Kids, a charity that K&E has proudly been affiliated with for more than 15 years.
If you have any questions about ordering a brick please contact Stephanie in the Camp Office.
During the Reunion another great way to support Mickey's Kids was unveiled. Sheila Pallay, our resident Camp photographer for more than a decade (and Scott's mom!) presented Phyllis with a beautiful photo collage of the different seasons on Eagle Pond. So many people at the Reunion fell in love with Sheila's work of art that she decided to make it available to our Camp community as a fundraiser for Mickey's Kids. This beautiful print is now available on mickeyskids.org if you would like to order one. Proceeds from the sale of these posters will go to help make the gift of summer camp available to financially disadvantaged children.
Thanks for creating this beautiful piece of artwork, Sheila, and thanks for sharing it with all of us as a fundraiser for such a great cause!
