It was officially announced this morning that Cleveland.com has named Kenwood and Evergreen camper Ryan Levine as their November Person of the Month! As part of his bar mitzvah tzedaka project Ryan created a kids-only film festival which he hosted at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in his hometown. The event raised $32,000 for the Michael J. Fox Foundataion to help fund research for a cure for Parkinson's disease. Way to go, Ryan!
As we announced in early March, this evening was our overnight camp in NH's 8th annual Camper Film Festival. Throughout the last 7 weeks of this summer campers as young as 8 have been working with Hannah and Kaitlin, our two fantastic film making instructors, making all sorts of different types and styles of movies.
At tonight's film festival our community gathered in our theater to watch the best of what they had made. Everyone got into the spirit of the event. Our Junior Counselors made enough hot popcorn for 200 people. Ceramics Andy and Salvador from Cooking handmade chocolate Oscar statues and wrapped them in gold foil for the winners in each category. Some kids and counselors even dressed up in their finest camp outfits. I'm thinking that next year we'll have an actual red carpet.
This was a really wonderful special event. It's so great that our community can come together on a night like this to celebrate the artistic vision and hard work of our campers. They wrote the scripts, auditioned the actors, created storyboards, edited and even wrote original soundtracks. We are so proud of them and hope that you enjoy them all! Over the course of the next few weeks I'll make sure to put them all up on the Official Camps Kenwood and Evergreen Youtube Channel.
There are so many reasons why we are a 7 week summer camp, and so many reasons why our campers love the final 3 weeks of each season. Here are our top 12 reasons why staying for 7 weeks at our summer camp in NH is the best thing ever!
12. Do you know what's most fun than 4 weeks of summer camp? SEVEN weeks of summer camp!
It's almost time! The start of the summer of 2015 is just over 100 days away, and we cannot wait. We have so many exciting plans for this summer, and will be sharing many of them in this blog over the coming weeks.
