It was the first day of Camp and we had a LOT going on. In fact, before dinner we had offered more than 30 different fun and exciting activities at our brother sister summer camp. Sports, Arts, Water Fun, Outdoor Adventure -- this day had it all! Here's what we had going on during this first full camp day of the summer:
I remember being a new camper. More than three decades later I can still recall the butterflies in my stomach. Would I make any friends? How would I know where my bunk was and what I was supposed to do? What if I got lonely or homesick? Would my counselors really be there to support me? These were all questions on my mind on my first day of overnight camp, and here at Kenwood and Evergreen we know they are the same fears that all of our new campers had this morning as they stepped onto our camp buses.

It seems that just about every new camper and parent has concerns about homesickness. Would you like to see and hear how some of our most talented camp counselors not only help our campers through it, but leave them feeling more resilient and more confident?
To truly understand a summer camp community you need to know its camp counselors, so we want to introduce you to some of ours!
It's a question children and parents ask me all the time: so what's the first day like at Kenwood and Evergreen? Implicit in the question is the concern how do I know that my child will be ok in this new community? Will she make new friends? Will he be glad that he signed up for this adventure? Well, let me share with what our opening day was like.
The start of Camp is just a day away and we could not be more excited. For the past two weeks our counselors, coaches and teachers have been working around the clock, learning how to create the most incredible – and impactful – summer experience possible for our campers.
