One of the best things about our counselors is how they try to find every opportunity to show our campers a great time. This day started off a little wet and cold. It began to rain during the walk to breakfast, and for most of the morning there were showers overhead. It didn't stop us from having fun at our arts and sports activities, but as lunch approached you could see that a lot of people were looking for a reason to change their mood.
It was a beautiful, right sunshiny day today (the rain is gone, aw yeah!) and everyone was celebrating. The change from cold and rain to warm and sunny brought out the best mood in campers and counselors. Kids skipped on their way up to breakfast, and I saw lots of hand holding and hugging. What a wonderful way to start the 3rd week of the summer!
Earlier in the summer I used our blog to answer an important question: so what do you guys do at your overnight camp when it rains? The short answer is that in the absence of thunder and lightning we play outside, and it's fabulous fun. But there are moments in the summer when the sky rumbles off in the distance, and we have a totally different set of protocols. Tonight was one of those nights, and it helped us have a fantastic, memorable evening.
