Last weekend Catherine & I travelled exactly 3618km from Sharon MA to Puebla Mexico on a quest to hire more amazing Kenwood & Evergreen summer employees. During our time in Mexico we met dozens of potential new recruits, and were also joined by our camp friend Salvador Marin. Salvador, or “Chava” as he is known to his campers and fellow counselors, has spent 4 summers at our sleep away camp in New Hampshire. First, he worked as a member of our Kitchen Support Staff team, then became the head of our Cooking activity area, and last summer was a bunk counselor in our youngest age group.
As I wrote in Monday's blog, January seems to be a time when our brother-sister summer camp community has reunions big and small. This coming Saturday we will be hosting a massive camp reunion at Chelsea Piers in Stamford, CT from 5:00-7:00pm, and two weeks ago over 100 campers and counselors joined us for a weekend in the snow up at our campus in NH. There was also a huge camp counselor gathering in UK last week, and a smaller one in Ireland. K&E camp friends get together all over the world!
