In the last couple of blogs I've written about so many of the great aspects of our recent Camp Alumni Reunion. Like seeing former campers and counselors of the last 7 decades reconnect with one another, or meeting and becoming fast friends. Or meeting our future K&E campers. Or the special events we held, like Jell-O Wrestling (for kids) and Rope Burning (for adults). Or how much fun it is regardless of your age to stand around a campfire and make s'mores. And, of course, the many ways that we celebrated Phyllis' 66 amazing summers at K&E.
Who takes all of your camp's beautiful photos? It's a question I'm asked all of the time. Like Madonna, Prince or Cher, she's known by one name (at least in our community): Sheila. She's also Scott's mom, and for the last 10 years she's been the official photographer of Camps Kenwood and Evergreen. Each day of the summer she is out trying to capture every aspect of life at our overnight summer camp -- the candid moments of friends being together, the fun and learning that takes place at activities, life in and out of the cabins, and the natural beauty of New Hampshire that surrounds us. And almost every day she posts her photos so that parents can see on their computers and tablets just how great a time our campers are having. Last summer Sheila posted over 12,000 photos in 49 days!
Two amazing movies about our brother-sister summer camps in NH
Well, I wrote that last night's blog was going to be my last for a couple of weeks, but I guess I'm going to have to go back on that. I needed to share this two amazing movies that Sheila, our Camp photographer, showed at our two camps' closing banquets. Sheila went through the more than 12,000 photos that she took this summer and picked the best ones, and then set them to music picked by our senior campers.
The slideshows cover just about every amazing moment of the summer from Opening to Closing day, including jell-o wrestling, gold rush, sports tournaments, theatrical productions, hollowpallooza, world cup, carnival, trips down the zip line, our first moments on the field of dreams, regular daily activities and more! The photos capture our campers taking healthy risks, finding their passions and being their best selves. And, of course, they also show what our community is about at its core: having incredible amounts of fun while making deep and meaningful friendships.
